Our Movie Props
For movie props, this is one of those things relating to media I strongly believe me and my partner did well. For our midterm alone we spent a ton of time just thinking about which props we could have to enhance our movie. We also had to think about the conventions of media when choosing props. For example, since the movie opening would be following the life of a bird watcher, how do we want to portray him? Since we wanted to follow a more nerdy guy who is very clean and put together, we made sure we took that route with the props we chose. Each of these props are pictured below.
As seen from this photo taken from the midterm movie, we put both glasses and a hat which the bird watcher, Eric, puts on in the movie. The glasses are a classic stereotype for nerds, which helps us portray Eric as one. Additionally, the hat adds to the nerdiness, but also makes sense since Eric is going out to be in the sun and wants to be protected from it.
These binoculars from our movie weren't essentially to give Eric that nerdy look, although it does help portray it. Rather this fit the idea that he was a bird watcher and was actively getting ready to go out bird watching, which is why he picks up the binoculars and puts them on in the movie.
This is my personal favorite prop. Now, there might be bias to the fact that I created the poster, although with the amount of time I put to create this prop deserves its bias. After my partner Lucca and I decided there should be an inclusion of foreshadowing in our movie we decided on this: Eric finds the missing person in the woods after the fact that he found a missing person poster on the bulletin board before entering the woods. I made sure everything was kept in black and white to give it that eerie effect when Eric looks at it in the movie.
