Week 4: Filming Dates

As of today, Wednesday, March 4th, we will begin filming at 4 p.m. We planed to film a little bit later in the day, closer to dawn, so we could get darker lighting during the movie. This would allow the movie to better fit the conventions of a thriller/horror movie.

Before we film I will discuss a little bit about what we have changed regarding the movie.

For example, this is the opening 30 seconds of the movie where Eric is putting on his binoculars, tying his shoes, and eventually grabbing his hat to go out birdwatching. Although, my partner Lucca and I decided that this had no fit for the movie. It cut our time to 30 seconds and the pacing of the scene was very slow. We are keeping the idea but he will be wearing already a lot of the things which he had collected originally. This will reduce the entire scene to around 15 seconds before he enters the woods/nature preserve. Now, we have around a minute and 45 seconds to help fix our missed plot holes from the midterm movie.

What I mean when mentioning our "missed plot holes" are that a lot of suggestions from when students peer reviewed our movie was that there were a few plot holes missing, making the movie confusing. We will now film a few more parts to help make the story of our movie flow easier.

Another change to the movie is our title. We had originally not spent much time on opening credits and our movie title. We now plan to choose fonts which fit the conventions of a thriller movie. For the movie title we also plan to have a bird fly through it as it transitions to the first shot of the movie where Eric will be looking through his binoculars.

Lastly, we plan to add slightly more plot to our missing person, Ray Capulto, as played by my partner Lucca Capron. Along with this, while not related, we are adding an establishing shot for the woods/nature preserve. We plan to use a drone for this.
